Dr. Rodel Aguas is the Director of the Parish Catechetical Ministry which includes the Religious Education Program (K-8), RCIA, Baptismal Preparation Seminar, Children’s Liturgy of the Word, and other Catechesis-related programs.
He earned his Doctorate in Philosophy major in Educational Management with a dissertation in Catholic School Culture at the University of the Assumption. He has a Master’s Degree in Religious Education with an outstanding thesis in Family Catechesis from the De La Salle University. He also has a Master’s Degree in Teacher Leadership major in Special Education from the Notre Dame of Maryland University. And he has a degree in Bachelor’s in Secondary Education major in Religious Education from the University of the Assumption.
Prior to his migration and naturalization in the United States, he was the Dean of the College of Professional Teacher Education at the University of the Assumption in the Philippines where he created the curriculum for the Religious Education Teacher’s program for the Archdiocesan university.
He is currently a Special Education Resource Teacher at the Baltimore City Public Schools System where he received school-based awards for outstanding performance in his field.
He also volunteered as Catechist at the Saints Philip and James Parish where he created the Youth Faith Formation Program and was given an Outstanding Catechist Award by the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
Dr. Aguas would like to shape a joyful Catechetical Ministry in the Shrine of the Sacred Heart Parish built upon the best practices of the Catechists and nurtured by a deep friendship in Christ with the Church.
